Coaching: Season 2011/2012

Coaching this season will be held from 5.15 pm till 6.15 pm on each Monday night for all Members and on Tuesday night for members aged U/12 and over.
Monday's session will be conducted by Damien O'Shea, Alwyn Jones and Michael Ryan together with assistant coaches Alex Lopez and Kristen Holland.
The aim of the Coaching Panel is to provide a safe environment where the kids will have fun whilst improving their skills in running, jumping and throwing. We want them to enjoy the experience and look forward to coming back for the next session.

Coaching Profiles:

Alwyn Jones
Alwyn is a Level 2 Jumps Coach and also specialises in Hurdles & Sprints. He is a 3 time National Triple Jump Champion, represented Australia in the World Championships and won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 Commonwealth Games. His P B’s are 16.38m for Triple Jump & 7.66m for Long Jump

Damien O’Shea
Damien is a Level 2 Club Coach specialising in Sprints and is also a qualified Personal Trainer.
He has represented Victoria in Commonwealth & Olympic Trials and is a National Finalist over 100m. His PB’s are 10.40 for 100m and 20.8 for 200m

Michael Ryan
Michael is a Level 2 Club Coach specialising in distance events. He is currently completing his Personal Training Certificate IV and is a competitor with Glenhuntly Athletic Club.

Kristen Holland
Kristen is in her 3rd year of a Sports Science Degree at Victoria University and is currently working part time in the Coaching Department at the Western Bulldogs AFL Club.

Alex Lopez
Alex is a qualified Level 1 Club Coach, a former Track & Field Competitor and is experienced in coaching Sprints, Relays & Jumps

WEATHER POLICY

Training may be cancelled due to weather conditions if it is deemed dangerous to athletes. These conditions are excessive heat over 35 degrees, excessive rain, hail or lightning. Cancellation information will generally be available on the CLAC website prior to training if dangerous weather is forecast in advance. In respect of Melbourne’s weather it is not always possible to post information of cancelled training sessions on the CLAC website before training so parent discretion is required in these situations.


Training is for Registered Athletes only.
Please ensure you wear your club or center uniform or the commemorative tshirt & that a parent or guardian is present at the sessions at all times
